cover image of 'Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire'Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, by J.K. Rowling, is an exciting sequel to Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. The story starts off at the Dursley’s house. Harry is having visions of Lord Voldemort killing Frank Bryce (a Muggle) and wakes up with his scar hurting. Soon after, he receives an invitation from the Weasley’s to the Quidditch World Cup, and he goes, along with Hermione.

After the match, the Dark Mark (sign of Voldemort) appears in the sky, which freaks everyone out because it hasn’t been shown for 13 years. Winky, Barty Crouch’s house elf, is accused of starting it because she held Harry’s wand during the attack. Because of this, Hermione starts S.P.E.W. (Society for the Protection of Elvish Welfare).

Harry stays with the Weasleys for the rest of the summer. When they return to Hogwarts, they find out who their new Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher is – Mad-Eye Moody. Dumbledore also tells the children that they are going to host the Triwizard Tournament – a competition against the rivaling wizard schools for a chance to win 1,000 galleons. Students from Beauxbottoms and Durmstrang will travel to Hogwarts, where they will stay for the year in hope to compete in the tournament.

On Halloween, the Goblet of Fire chooses Fleur Delacour from Beauxbottoms, Viktor Krum from Durmstrang, and Cederic Diggory from Hogwarts. However, it also chooses Harry Potter as a fourth contestant, and after much consideration, the judges allow him to participate. The anticipation rises in this book as readers ponder the question “Who will win the thousand galleons?”

This book is one of the best books in the Harry Potter series. Anyone who likes a fantasy book will LOVE this exciting novel. I would definitely recommend this book. The Harry Potter series is eight books, each unraveling a different story.
