cover image of 'Turtles All the Way Down'Once again, author John Green doesn’t disappoint in his relatively new book Turtles All The Way Down. This is Green’s seventh novel. This was an excellent read; I couldn’t put it down.

The story revolves around 16 year-old Aza, who struggles with extreme anxiety and often sees a therapist. There is also Daisy, who is Aza’s outgoing and very talkative best friend. With all best friends, there are always some problems, fights, jealousy, or even just small disagreements. Aza and Daisy have their fair share of these, but in the end they are still best friends. All teenagers, or all people in general, hope that their best friend will stick by them the way Aza and Daisy end up staying with each other.

The main character that Aza has relationships with is Davis. Davis is the son of multi-millionaire Russel Pickett, who goes missing when he is caught in several fraud scandals. The way Aza connects with Davis is when Davis’ dad goes missing and on the news it is promised thousands of dollars to the person who can find Russel, dead or alive. Aza ends up developing feelings and a relationship with Davis, and he likes Aza too.

Aza’s mental disorders make everything more difficult for her; she overthinks everything and it is very hard for her throughout the novel. This is a great story about problems that all teenagers have to face, including love, friendships, and the fear of what the future holds.

When a book draws you in from the first page and you feel you can identify with the characters, that’s a sign of incredible talent in the author. I can see why this book was a NY Times Notable Book  and a New York Times Critics’ Top Book of the Year. Teens, you will love this book.

Definitely worth reading, I give it 5 stars.
